Greetings: Major Robert J Broome, CSA is laid to rest in Mt Carmel Cemetery, Baltimore, MD. A search for his military records indicate that he was a private in the 2nd MD Light Artillery, CSA. The only explanation for his rank of Major is that he was elected to that rank when a member of the United Confederate Veterans - this is just speculation. Any assistance would be appreciated.
