Maj. R. E. Graves' Report - Murfreesboro

Major Rice E. Graves, Chief of Artillery, Breckinridge's Division wrote a report on the battle of Murfreesboro/Stone's River that is included in the John C. Breckinridge Papers held by the New York City Historical Society. I obtained a microfilm of the papers and was very disappointed that the film's poor quality and fading of the report itself made it possible to transcribe only a small portion of it. What I could transcribe of the report held valuable information that I have not found elsewhere.

Question, does a transcript of the report exist?

Also of interest in the Breckinridge papers is the report of Colonel Theodore O'Hara, Breckinridge's chief of staff. As with Major Graves' report, only a portion of it can be transcribed.

I am now engaged in researching and writing Volume II of the Stone's River campaign that covers the Army of Tennessee. Volume I, the Union Army, is completed and printed. Outside the standard references availabvle, any information, however seemingly insignificant, dealing with the Army of Tennessee at Murfreesboro would be most appreciated. A wonderful example is the recent posting on this site "Letters from Robert Cobb to an old veteran."

My Thanks and GOD's Blessings,
