There are two bronze cannons in front of the ROTC Building at LSU that legend says were given to the university by W. T. Sherman. A few years ago, I was told by a man who should know (Wayne Stark) that this legend was not true, and that those guns arrived at LSU long after Sherman's death. I can no longer find the information I received concerning these guns. Does anyone out there know the true story of the LSU cannons? And would you be willing to tell me where I could find the documentation concerning these guns?
