When performing a retreat while firing in "half batteries" or a/k/a retreat by "sections" would the prolonge be necessarily used then also? The Pointe Coupee Artillery performed this well retreating from the Rebel left on the first day at Nashville. That is, two guns pulled back to a location determined by the Capt. while the other two held their ground firing, then as the other two commenced firing (being careful to not hit the left two peices) allowing them to retreat to another location chosen by the Capt. Were they using the prolonge?
Thanks, Jack R
