Clues to CS soldier identity in Photo?

On page 353 of "The Civil War An Illustrated history by Geoffrey Ward is a photograph of a CS Soldier.
Several Clues to identity:
1) He was either married or a widower-father of a son who stands beside him-but no wife in picture.
2) His collr rak is that of a 2nd Lt. {2 bars on each side}
3) His branch of service is Artillery {Crossed cannons on hat}
4) His regimental Number is "17".
Possible suggestions as to ID.
